18 Things I've Learned In 18 Years

Heyyyyyyy guysssssss!!!!

I'm sure you're wondering why the excitement ???

Well, it's a new month today and I love this month so much. Besides the fact that it's my birth month, it's also a month that shows how time flies.

Half of the year has gone by and alongside the Coronavirus, a lot has happened to every one of us this year. The good, the bad, and the damn right ugly. But guess what?

Like Elton John would say "I'm still standing, yeah yeah yeah"

We've come this far!!! Let's be grateful to God for that.

Tomorrow happens to be my birthday and this young blogger is finally going to be legal. I can't wait *inserts dancing emoji*.

The past 17+ years *wink wink* have been so amazing and filled with so many life-changing moments. Along the line, I picked up a few key lessons that have guided me and are still guiding me on this amazing journey called life.

So here are 18 things I have learned in 18 years.

1. NOT EVERYONE WOULD LIKE YOU

It won't happen. Haters are always going to hate. It's the same way you don't like everyone, and that's okay.

Don't push someone to like you, don't force the vibes. You'll get over it in the end and life would be a lot easier.

2. ONE OF THE WISEST THINGS YOU CAN LEARN TO DO IS HOW TO SAVE AND SPEND

I'm still learning how to do this. Imagine saving half of your allowance for three months and then you see those shoes you've been dreaming of since forever.
Before buying them think wisely. Can you go another six months without them? Are they essential? Would I really wear them?

Whenever you're faced with a spending dilemma ask yourself relatable questions like this and in the end, you'll learn how to save and spend your money like a wise person.

3. I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS

I am very proud to be a work in progress. Meaning that I will never be done with improving myself and striving to be something and someone better than I am already. I am comfortable with making mistakes and learning from them.

4. SMILE, LAUGH, AND DO THEM ALL OVER AGAIN

I love smiling so much and don't even get me started about laughing. C'mon who doesn't love to laugh?
Grace the world with your amazing smile. You never know you might be the highlight of someone's bad day.

5. BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER

I'm still learning the true meaning of this. We've changed the actual meaning.

6. GOD'S TIME IS THE BEST TIME

God's time is the best time, never early, never late but it's all worth the wait.

That job you're looking for God is going to send it your way, all those things you want to accomplish God knows when is best. Start trusting him with your all.

He has seen when you're going to succeed and when you're going to fail. Most especially he knows if you're going to get back up when you fall down.

7. HAVING THE RIGHT FRIENDS GOES A REALLY LONG WAY

Friendships are so important. There are always people who lift up your spirits. Get you through the bad days and tough times. They are like brothers and sisters from another mother.

Having the right friends is one of the best things you could ever experience. (While you read this point, the people or person that came to your mind are the right ones).

8. DON'T SPEND YOUR TIME CHASING PERFECTION

When I was little I thought perfection was everything. I strove to be on top of the class, I wanted 100% nothing less.

Then I grew up and realized to be perfect is to be flawless. To have no scratches, no scars, to never make a mistake, to be faultless.
Nobody's perfect ~Hannah Montana.

Don't spend all your time trying to perfect yourself. Instead, use that time and embrace your imperfections.

9. START BUILDING THE RIGHT HABITS

I can't emphasize this enough. Your habits will either make you or break you. So why not go for the ones that would make you from the start.
Waking up early, saying your prayers, Reading, exercising. These are all habits to start now. It's better late than never.

10. TRUST YOUR INTUITION

Sometimes you don't have to think about some things. It's not like you're making rash decisions. It's you having this feeling in your gut. It's like you just know.

I like to think of it as trusting not only my heart but my mind as well. It's in-between. Don't forget to trust God always, putting everything in his hands especially in the midst of confusion.

11. HEALTH IS DEFINITELY WEALTH

Your physical, mental and emotional health are all very important. Start taking care of yourself in all aspects. Drink lots of water, don't skip breakfast, and definitely mind your business.

12. GET COMFY IN YOUR OWN SKIN

I don't know when I started stating this phrase but any time someone complained about my weight, my acne or my dark spots. I always say "I am made in God's image and likeness". No matter how perfect you think you are there are those determined to find your flaws.
Trust me when I say your flaws and imperfections shape the best parts of you. So start embracing them. Get comfortable in your own skin.

13. TIME HEALS?

I was skeptical about how true this is. Then a special friend opened my eyes and told me

Time is merely a revealer of situations but it's the decisions we make that change those situations.

When you make a decision IN time. Decisions made in the course of time heal that situation. ~Oseremen

14. PEOPLE CHANGE

It may be for the better or for the worse. In the end, we all change, including you!

Who we were this time last year and who we are today are two completely different people. Different views, interests, habits, likes, dislikes. Everything has changed drastically and we're going to keep on changing.

You a year from now is going to be someone different from who you are today. Hopefully, all this change is for the better.

15. IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY OR LATE TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

We all have dreams, aspirations, and things we want to achieve but sometimes you feel like you're wasting your time because these things will always be JUST dreams. Trust me that's not true.

Keep on dreaming, keep on believing, and keep on striving. It's never too late or too early to follow your dreams.

16. STOP OVERTHINKING AND START LIVING IN THE MOMENT

I'm still trying to get the hang of this. My Mum once told me she doesn't tell me things because I worry for Africa. At first, I laughed about it, and then I realized how true it was. I overthink a lot of things.

I keep telling myself it's like planning ahead but I know it's just me being anxious and worried about the future and the unknown.

I'm learning to start living in the moment and acting in the present. Now I know I won't get back the memories of yesterday, so I'm starting to cherish them a lot more.

17. CHANGE IS CONSTANT

I've never been a fan of change, but slowly I started understanding that change happens every day. Be it time, the seasons, your mood, a lot of change happens.

18. GOD OVER EVERYTHING

Are you religious? Have you given yourself up to Christ? giving yourself up to the Lord is one of the most amazing things that will ever happen to you. You won't believe what God has in store for you.

Cheers to being legal

5 Signs That You're Afraid Of Getting Rejected ( based on personal relationships )

Hey guys, I'm glad you're back here.        I'm really excited about this particular piece because in many ways it's really personal. It took me quite a while to get it done to this point and I had some help from so many people. I know most people clicked the link because we're all curious cats. We want to know if we're exhibiting any of these signs. Others want to prove to themselves that they are not. Who knows you just might be. Try and read this piece with an open mind.            Rejection isn't a word anyone likes to hear, neither are the phrases "You just weren't good enough", " We're sorry but you didn't make the cut", "It's not you, it's me", " Sorry we're not hiring" These are all different ways to tell that you've been rejected. To be honest, rejection isn't a bad thing. When you get rejected, yes it means you've failed but it doesn't mean you'...

Home Is Not A Place, It's A Feeling

We all believe our homes to be,  Our safe space, Our nest, Our Haven, Our paradise, but people differ and may not always think like this. Why do you need a home? We all have our DEMONS, like it or not they're there. The sooner you realize they're haunting you the better.  Our demons are the trials and tribulations we go through every day. When we battle our demons we all need somewhere to retreat to, whether or not the battle has been won or lost. These demons can't get to us when we're home. As long as we stay home, there's no way in for them. When you're not battling demons You're conquering COMPANIONSHIP I don't just mean being married, but also the companionship of your brothers and sisters, your friends, your closest friends and let's not forget the BFF'S  There's this feeling we get when we're surrounded by those we love the most When we realize this is our home  We see that Home is not just a place, it...

Why We Compare Ourselves To Others and How To Stop

For as long as I can remember I have battled with comparison and I still continue to battle with it. I have compared myself to others in so many aspects of my life such as my academics, what clothes I have, the type of phone I'm using, how big the house I live in is, the kind of jewelry I wear and so many other aspects of life. I've always had this idea that mine had to be better than the guy or girl next door.  Comparing yourself to others doesn't make you a bad person neither does it mean it's a good thing to do. It's perfectly normal and it's part of life's challenges. Although comparison makes some of us feel better with ourselves, we forget that it's also short-lived and afterward we get this feeling of inadequacy, worthlessness, and overall unhappiness. So now I'm going to ask the million-dollar question.  Why do we constantly compare ourselves to others? 1. The belief that success looks a certain kind of way. We think that for you ...
